Recycle your used electronics in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.  New York State has recently implemented laws making the improper disposal of electronics illegal.

Disposal Ban: Beginning January 1, 2015, consumers may no longer dispose of certain types of electronic equipment in landfills, waste-to-energy facilities, in the trash, or at curbside for trash pickup. Consumers must use the recycling options available to them.

Every year approximately 40 million tons of electronic waste is generated worldwide.  Only about 12% is currently being recycled; the rest ends up in landfills.  Much of this comes from households  like ours who do not recycle obsolete and non-repairable  electronics.

Much of this electronic waste is recyclable, the plastics and metals can be be reused in many products.  Products such as flat screen televisions contain dangerous chemicals such as lead and mercury.  When the product is properly recycled these chemicals are removed and disposed of in a safe manner.
